To Honour Our Day!

Happy Women’s Day to every woman out there!

Busy Bee, my favourite cafeteria, decided to honour us women by offering a lovely selection of fancy nibbles and cakes! It was their first time in doing such a thing. It was lovely and sweet! This afternoon selection was vast, including parma ham sandwiches, egg and mayo sandwiches, salmon croissants…and the desserts, which was probably the best part!

This cafeteria is famous over here in Malta. It has been around for many years and its good a solid good reputation. In my opinion it is one of the best places to eat at. They are legit huge as they offer outside catering for various occasions including weddings. You can never ever go wrong if you choose Busy Bee.

The new place that has opened up at Mriehel is God-sent. It’s modern and the display is huge. You may have to wait a little while as it tends to be full up, especially during weekends. However, if you would like to go to a traditional Maltese cafeteria, I would suggest for you to go to the one at Msida. Parking may be a bit of a problem unlike at Mriehel.

Nevertheless, once you settle in at either place, you’re in for the best treat ever!

The new cool snack bar

Danny’s at Qormi is one of a kind. It’s too modern and ‘hip’ to be called a snack bar. This ‘snack bar’ is located at Qormi’s industrial estate, in a very busy bypass. But if you want to relax a little in such a cool place, either during your lunch break or during a busy Saturday morning while running errands, Danny’s is the place to try out.

The staff  is young and energetic, really friendly and charismatic.

I like Danny’s as they offer a variety of foods, perhaps a little unusual too (from what an ordinary snack bar may offer) and the healthy options are delicious and reasonably priced. Another plus is that while you’re there, the kitchen is on full display, thus, the place is always kept clean.

In conclusion, I’ve never been to a Qormi snack bar where you get silver service-like treatment. Modern in style is the way to go!

Oh, and the homemade ice tea is heavenly too!

Nadur should not be famous only for it’s annual Carnival street party…

…Just sayin’.

I’m taking you to our sister island, Gozo. It’s smaller than Malta and there’s still some trees/greenery left too!

Nadur is a quaint little village, which is mostly famous during Carnival season that happens around February. A celebration of colours, dressing up, excessive drinking, well…one big street party all through the weekend.

But, I like to go to Nadur to eat at The Fat Rabbit. The portions, as you can notice, are huge and it’s really not expensive. And trust me, the food is of great quality.

Highly recommended when in Gozo to dine out for dinner in a quiet and intimate place.

Give me the burgers & pancakes, not clubbing

The title says all. One cannot go to Paceville to simply get wasted and dance the night away. Oh no. Well, Paceville these days is filled with gentlemen’s clubs and very little discos, most – have sadly closed down.

So, Shoreditch is a godsent – well, if you’re a foodie anyway. This burger place is situated right in the heart of Paceville in Malta. The two disadvantages that this place has got are 1) It’s a small place for the volume of people who want to dine there. 2) They do not take any reservations if you’re a couple. I suppose, it’s for obvious reasons since the place is a little small. One time, I heard that they will be expanding the joint but so far, nothing has been done. -fingerscrossed- Someday, perhaps they will!

The burgers are MASSIVE and to DIE FOR & everything is homemade. They also offer breakfast, and the eggs benedict is super delicious.

But let’s also talk about the pancakes. YUM. Plenty of variety to choose from, from M&Ms, Kinder, Red Velvet…the chef likes to experiment with the food and desserts. Thus, they are definitely made from the heart!

The staff is super nice. Once, I had gone during the afternoon, and thankfully I found a table. But since I was on my own, the waiter asked me politely to move three times from table to table. When it was time for dessert, to my surprise, I got it on the house for being understanding. I did not mind at all, as long as I was there eating my burger and my pancake, all was well!

Make sure to visit Shoreditch when in the area. If you are sad, stuff your face with a burger and a pancake not with alcohol. Trust me, you will not regret it! 😉

If you’re into Posh

Karak is an exclusive restaurant in the heart of Valencia, Spain. The menu changes every day. You have to reserve a place in order to get into this gem. To my astonishment, the establishment called me in the morning to ask whether I am allergic to certain foods. I thought that it was rather nice, no restaurant that I’ve reserved a place before asked this, let along call to make sure of it!

This place offers a selection of foods and as you can see, the attention to detail matters, big time. A waiter is assigned with you to explain what you will be eating and which beverage goes with the food served. Everything is fresh and attentive. One may think that it’s weird to mix certain ingredients together, but trust me, the chefs know exactly what they are doing to give you the best culinary experience.

Highly recommended and for an exclusive place, it is not highly expensive. (€55 per person excluding beverages)

In my personal opinion, Karak is a place where I will always remember for eating an extensive variety of food. I can say that it’s a never before experience, in terms of restaurants that I have been to. When in Valencia, I highly suggest for you, dear reader, to visit!

Mgarr United Bar & Restaurant

42197995_10218049524766582_1137936810387701760_nThis a local one! It’s located in the north of the Island. If you go to Mgarr, chances are that you will end up eating typical homemade food. For starters, the portions are massive and  the food tastes exactly to that cooked in a typical Maltese household.

Mgarr United Bar & Restaurant may slightly differ from the presentation of their plates. In other restaurants where Maltese food is served tend to lack a bit of presentation, however United makes sure to present their plates in a very sophisticated yet house-y way.

The cocktails are great too! They all include fresh fruit. In summer, you’d appreciate a cold drink like it.

The Bar and Restaurant is located just after the Mgarr Parish Church, right at the corner. You will not miss it!

Highly recommended to try out fresh Maltese dishes, for a work dinner or just a night out with the family. Yes, this place is also child friendly.

Now, if you will excuse me, I’m off to continue eating some horse meat  – it’s the best. The cooking of the meat is so tender and fresh! Bye!
